great track..... a time when music had a meaning..... the world was such a different place people would stand up for what they believed..... reminds me so much of being a teenager in the 1980s

THE SHADOWS OF THE CRANES.I was born in the shadows of,Swan Hunter's shipyard cranes. At a time when we all, knew our neighbours names. They stood at a place,at the end of the wall.Like huge metal dinosaurs,so strong and so tall. But sadly, alas, they are no longer there. Now as I gaze southwards, that skyline is bare.Memories of the shipyards, etched clear in my mind.More hard working people, you'd be hard pressed to find.My brother ,my father, and grandfathers all.Plied their trades expertly, this end of the wall.My Dad and my Brother, were both welders by trade, and helped produce ships, all the highest of grades. The clang of the rivets, the ten thousand men.The twice daily buzzer, that takes me back whenWe had a community, second to none. But now I'm afraid that, those great times have gone. And just what will become,of this ghostly old spot?New job creation?I sadly think not! When I hear this wonderful piece of music I see all this in my mind.

All the great British 80's synth bands were steeped in that working class ethos.

Fantastic to see landmarks of Grimsby and Cleethorpes here ie Ross house, Victoria flour mills (would be before it was converted to apartments) and The Promenade! So was this the official music video for the single back in the day??

That "big" wheel is still there, on Cleethorpes sea front. The ice house has fallen into major disrepair now
