Here's another one from the very roots of Purple. It was available for some time

but i found a version with better picture.

Those are of course roots of Ian & Roger before they joined Purple.

This performance was recorded for German television show simple called

Beat Beat in 1967.

Hope you'll like it

Gillan plays it cool when his head band falls down over his eyes.. Its Hard to believe from watching this video that this is the same voice that would become one of the Most powerful Voices in Rock History !!! But it is !!!

@Babybluecary, this song was written and first recorded by The Tokens in the US; their version is highly recommended. But this take is a surprise and a revelation; Episode Six did a great job with the song! To my knowledge, E6's US output was one 45 on the Compass label, "Morning Dew," but they obviously had a lot more going than just that. Some questions: (!) is this available in a studio version? (2) Who is the lady on keyboards? (3) Did other members of the group, besides Gillan and Glover, continue in music?A final note for those unaware of Deep Purple's pop roots, their first hit (in the US), "Hush," was a cover of a song originally done by Billy Joe Royal ("Down in the Boondocks"!

Anyone out there got Episode Six's version of "Island In The Sun"? I saw them singing this live in the late sixties in Manchester. Totally different from the calypso version by Harry Belafonte.
