back in the day when I started listening to Enigma (1980's), I considered them closer to techno, but new age works for me too... the terms ambient and trance, and the other names for the sub-genre's weren't in use then (or if they were, I never heard of them). Today, I would consider them closer to ambient, but even that doesn't seem to quite fit them. They just seem to be in a category all their own. :)

lol well I don't know if it's an insult but I can see where you're coming from...this is more New Age with a dance beat in the background. some people think just because it was heard on the radio it's already standard "pop"

I have to disagree with you as well. this honestly sounds more "new age" than pop. only someone with lack of knowledge of the genre will say this is pop, I can see where you would think is "pop" in the sense that it had a dance drum-beat (and it was popular on radio), but the rest of the instrumentation is clearly New Age. based on what you said Discogs NEVER said it was "pop" sounds more like you're misinterpreting "utilizing (with a z by the way not 's") dance music rhythms" w/ labeling "pop"

Discogs put down the wrong genre on music rather frequently, actually, and I see plenty of music where the tag is different from another source. oh, that, and that I'm not just a truck driver, but also a musician since the 1980's. This isn't "pop", sorry, and since you've chosen to abandon whatever argument you were trying to make, and switch to personal attacks and insults, you've conceded your argument. (which wasn't anything more than just "they said so so it must be")

Yes, they're wrong. Enigma, is in no way shape or form, "pop" music. The rest of that description is fine, but that isn't pop music.

For that matter, I don't know anybody who knows anything about music, who would EVER, call this a "pop" song... IMHO, calling it a pop song is more insulting than calling it satanic...

er correction... "Turn off the light, take a deep breath, and relax" actually not sure if there is a lyric that says to close your eyes.

"Close your eyes, take a deep breath, and relax" Enigma does use that lyric. All depends on which rip of the song off of which CD.

So they've appropriated a holy Catholic chant & turned it into a satanic pop song? I hope & pray that the Gregorian Chant awakens the Holy Spirity & brings souls to God, not satan.

There's a version of this song on DI but the flute is played different, and in it, it says "Close your else take a deep breath relax" unless that was just part of the channel it was playing on. it sounded like this tho. anyone know?

its a reference to the marquis de sade. the french part of the song explains the relationship between the girl and de sade.
