Turning and turning

The world goes on

We can't change it, my friend

Let us go riding all through the days

Together to the end, to the end

Les bicyclettes de Belsize

Carry us side by side

And hand in hand we will ride

Over Belsize

Turn your magical eyes

Round and around

Looking at all we found

Carry us through the skies

Les bicyclettes de Belsize

Spinning and spinning

The dreams I know

Rolling on through my head

Let us enjoy them, before they go

Come the dawn, they all are dead

Yes, they're dead

Les bicyclettes de Belsize

Carry us side by side

And hand in hand we will ride

Over Belsize

Turn your magical eyes

Round and around

Lookin' at all we found

Carry us through the skies

Les bicyclettes de Belsize

I was 18 when this was out, but I remember it to this day. Not my cup of tea then, but it's a great song to listen to. Not like the garbage nowadays.

I loved the song from when I was a youngster, hearing it on the radio station my Mom would play. But I do admit I did not understand the lyrics well, especially those containing the title.

One of my favorite Engelberts. I hand't heard it in years. Scrolling through my 45s I came across a copy which reminded me of the song, so I looked it up on You Tube and sure enough, there it was! Nice to hear it again. My record player's not working at the moment so I couldn't play it. Thanks for posting.

Even though Englebert was not the music I would normally listen to back in that day -- I have to admit a great melody is a great melody and he had many of them. I had to sneak my listens late at night. "The Last Waltz," "After the Lovin'," "Release Me" and especially this song "Les Bicyclettes De Belsize" -- excellent. He was quite good....him and Tom Jones dominated for several years.

My local radio stations didn't play this song, so when I heard its haunting melody I had no idea what title to look for and searched desperately all over for "Lady St. Clair du Versailles!" Thank goodness it's found. My favorite EH song!
