One of the great music video productions of the MTV era. The tune and lyrics has stayed in my memory since I saw it one time during a retrospective in the mid 1980's. Few others have had the impact of this classic gem.

Actor Thomas Browder, AKA August Darnell, AKA Kid Creole, is probably best known NOT for his bit part in the 2008 Jack Black comedy Be Kind Rewind *but* for his credit as founder and leader of the Coconuts. Eighties radio wasn't just dominated by synthesizers. The era saw the Stray Cats revive rockabilly--and it saw Kid Creole and the Coconuts reinterpret big band music.Sounding much like a reject demo for the Mask motion picture soundtrack, the Coconuts'1985 single "Endicott" was actually produced almost a decade *before* the Jim Carrey film that seemed to borrow inspiration from Kid Creole's record collection--as well as his wardrobe! No matter what his moniker, style, and legacy may, in fact, be, it's evident that Browder/Darnell/Creole is *a wonderful thing, baby*.But what I wanna know is: Why can't YOU be like En-di-cott?
