Well, they were more grown up at the time of Aequilibrium's recording, and if you read interviews with Isahn he's the 1st to say that, while he is proud of all his work with Emperor, he felt a little silly after looking back on how "scary" and "evil" they were trying to be..by the time they had grown up both chronologically and mentally, they had stopped trying to define the scene and just let the albums speak for themselves. btw, like the Skwisgaard picture!

It's not old Emperor is all! I mean, Nightside Eclipse and Anthems are so good but this album has An Elegy of Icaros (featuring the absolutely BEAUTIFUL breakdown starting at 3:35) PLUS Dechrystallizing Reason, Sworn, Source of Icon E, Nonus Aequilibrium..I mean Come on! Isahn definitely grew up a bit from childish Black Metal on this one while retaining the vocals and blazing guitar attack that typifies all Black Metal.. It's Emperor's best album, is what I'm trying to say..

i found this song by happen chance while looking for other emperor songs i had never heard this one before, i have to say it's really powerful and ballad like not something i'm real familiar with from this band, noq bear in mind i've only heard a few of their songs so don't go ripping me out for saying something wrong i don't know this band well enough to know if they have made other songs like this but i like them alot so far.
