My all-time favorite of Emmylou's songs and perhaps of all CW. It's not just another song she sings; it illustrates her sensibilities, exemplifies her style and personifies her spirit.

I remember that I saw this lady many years ago in Wash., DC. she use to appear regularly at a place called the "Child Harold" (the name I misspelled as I forget the real spelling) not sure but I believe that bar is now long gone -- that place was great I saw also Billy Roberts, the guy that they say did the original "Hey Joe" that Hendrix later did and gave credit to Billy -- lots of good memories at that place from so long ago -- Thanks for the post brings back the time to me !

Studio version was ACC's #54 song of '82. God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx! Have a blessed weekend. I just pray that Emmylou's quit smokin' those deadly Indian bidi cigarettes.

@alan4sure Buddy Miller? Amazing player, very distinctive, tasty, nasty. He's my new guitar hero.

@MrWileyk Sorry missed your first message. Anton is probably keeping up with an outline of the song, probably not a note for note or in this case beat for beat score. He is a world class drummer, playing everything from country, rock,hip-hop, to jazz fusion. Usually they will have a run thru, but if there's not enough time he might listen to a recording. So in my guesstimation, he is reading "something", most likely his own notes on the song, but it could be sheet music with his part.
