There is. Some artists have been screaming their whole life and still could do it in their old age

To danoh131. If idol was rigged, Casey Donovan never would have won. Anybody could tell they wanted Anthony callea to win and he didn't.

There is no such thing as good tenchique when screaming. It's bad for your vocal chords and causes vocal noduals which can turn cancerous.

One thing, i don't know what you're talking about but just for people to know, screaming can also be done harmlessly if you have a good technique. It's used in metal music

Stupid question .. talking vs screaming, screaming vs singing, yawning vs screaming vs talking vs singing. If you can't tell the difference then you have a problem. They may all use the vocal chords but singing isn't forced causing pain.Screaming does and is bad singing and bad for your health. It's not singing,it's not talking and your argument is stupid because even yawning and humming use the vocal chords to some degree and neither are screaming.

Could you please tell me the fundamental difference between yelling and loud singing? Both are produced with the same exact muscles and organs, and are biologically exactly the same thing. Yes, her voice was a tad strained but that doesn't mean she's a bad singer. All singers strain a little bit at times. Especially in competitions like this and when singing such a legendary song. All she needed was a couple of singing lessons and a relaxed mind. Great performance anyways!

@danoh131 They are badly set up anyway, Idol is not a singing contest but a popularity contest. The generally public knows nothing about vocals. 1:37 is screaming and not singing but the General public won't even notice the strain and thing it's a well executed note. It's probably why the music industry laughs at these shows so much.

@Maggie94xx I auditioned the same year, and the lady that was my judge at the first stage was Kate Dearaugo's singing teacher! Definitely rigged!
