Good luck trying to fix yourself (I was never able to do it). A person who is locked away from society will eventually be driven to insanity. We were meant to have relationships with people, and by being deprived of those relationships, we are less than whole. Likewise, we are meant to have a relationship with God. Without that relationship, it's impossible to be whole I am confident in this: without Jesus, it's impossible to be fixed, to really feel your heartbeat, for any real length of time.
