hatebreed is barely even metalcore "Soft death 'n roll with wigger vocals" sounds better.

that may be what it means but most of the bands take much more influence from metal, although some are just metallic hardcore, like hatebreed or earth crisis

Yes, all music is emotional. I just showed there that all those sub-genres came from hardcore punk.

why won't nobody get it ! hardcore punk has ALLWAYS been an emotional thing. and it has nothing to do with the sound..... even a jazzband can be hardcore punk.......

You people must remember "core" comes from hardcore.

Hardcore punk rock -> Emotive Hardcore -> Screamo Hardcore punk rock -> Metallic hardcore punk rock (Metalcore)

People use the term post-hardcore like many people use "melodic" or "modern" to describe something because they don't know the real term or because it sounds better.

Emo or screamo are not post-hardcore, post-hardcore is genre, like emo and screamo. Post-hardcore is not some term for anything that has even little bit of hardcore to it.

Metalcore is metallic hardcore punk rock.

you people all baffle me. to say that this, one of the fundamental albums, listed on friggin andy radins website, is not emo, is to disgrace the purest, original genre, which has already been disgraced so darn much by it's selling out and virtual dissapearcne, no more for the basic misunderstanding of it, it's being ridiculed without ever listened to, does not deserve to be lumped with punk rock, which did not birth emo, but expanded into it, briefly, before it fizzled out and died(apex of rock)

one of teh best emo songs ever. ian's lyrics in fugazi may have been more healrtfelt and explorative, but his songwriting never got better than this. in a certain way, this is the best mid tempo rock album ever recorded.

ian mackaye is practically my idol, im not getting into this whole 'that not punk' argument. im tlking sonically. and anyway most of the original screamo bands follow the same DIY ethic as hardcore does.

you just don't understand it :s hardcore punk is MUCH more than music... the way of thinking(wich is the most important thing) in hardcore punk is completely different than metalcore,screamo,..... even a jazzband can be punk........you just have to understand..... watch some vids of ian mackaye and maybe than you will.

Well you just completely disregarded everything i just said. Firstly i said screamo and metalcore are different things entirely. Metalcore is the stuff that 'scene' girls like. You'know all the eyeliner bands? They are a metal genre but they are influenced by hardcore bands and take in some of the elements, such as use of switching time signatures and breakdowns. Screamo is effectively a hardcore subgenre. Fast, harsh and angry. Definitely not for scene girls.

listen..... if you knew what REAL hardcore punk is and what it is about you would know that screamo and metalcore bullshit has NOTHING to do with this .....
