People often dismiss Elvis as a musician because he never played instruments at virtuoso level. But when you listen to something like this or watch him on the rehearsals on "That's the way it is" you realise what natural musical awareness he had. There would have been several brilliant musicians playing on this outtake but Elvis was the one keeping it together whilst others missed a beat or a chord. He had an ability of knowing exactly how he wanted it to sound and no amount of training can give you that, its genius.
