"My Happiness" and "That's When Your Heartaches Begin" were the first songs that (18-year-old) Elvis ever recorded -- paying $3.98 on July 18, 1953 (one month after graduating from high school) at Sun Records; this was an unsold "demo" record, made to attract agents' attention. On 1/4/1954, he made another non-commercial "demo" recording: "I'll Never Stand In Your Way" and "It Wouldn't Be the Same Without You" (the very pleasant song in this YouTube clip). Finally, on 7/5/1954, he made his first commercial recording -- "That's All Right (Mama)" / "Blue Moon of Kentucky" -- accompanied by Scotty Moore and Bill Black.

Despite the scratchy background Elvis' voice shines through brilliantly.
