On this day in 1956 {February 4th} Elvis Presley performed "Baby, Let's Play House" on the CBS-TV program 'The Dorsey Brothers Show'... One year earlier in 1955 Elvis released it on Sun Records; it became his first national charted record, it reached #5 on Billboard's Country Singles chart... It was composed by Arthur Gunter, who recorded the original version the year before in 1954... R.I.P. Mr. Gunter {1926 - 1976} and The King {1935 - 1977}...

That's true. I also like what Jim Morrison said about Elvis "Elvis is the best ever, the most original. He started the ball rolling for us all". Led Zeppelin loved Elvis. Elvis liked them as well. They got together a number of times over the years. In Vegas as well as Graceland. They even attend Elvis concerts.

Yes this was released July 1955 as overjazzrecords has acknowledged. It was Elvis' first national smash hit going to #5 on the Billboard chart. He followed that up in August of 55 with "I Forgot to Remember to Forget" which went to #1 on the billboard chart, his first #1 hit. He then followed that with the flip-side recording "Mystery Train" going to # 11 on the billboard chart also in August of 55. The year before he made music history with the release of "That's alright" July 19 1954.
