RECONSTRUCTION using the audio from Elvis' final live performance for what would be 9yrs. (Now and Then There's) A Fool Such As I was a hit for Elvis while he was in the Army. In 1961, he did two benefit concerts, one in Memphis and one in Hawaii for the new Pearl Harbor Memorial. It may be his finest concert because it is a combination of the early Elvis sound of the 50's plus he performed his new singles which were more mature. He had a hotshot band that in addition to Scotty Moore on guitar also featured the legendary Hank Garland who after 1961 was unable to play on anymore of Elvis' records due to an auto accident.

The video you see here is taken from the film ELVIS starring Kurt Russell and is pretty close to probably how it would have been to see The King during this time period. In the film, the soundtrack was performed by Ronnie McDowell. Here, averyshakyproduction did what he calls a "reconstruction". I used the work he did but made it black and white and during the solo instead of going to just stock footage, I used footage of the REAL Hank Garland playing guitar. I slowed "Sugarfoot Rag" down to somewhat simulate the timing. I wish we had actual footage of Elvis and Hank doing this song, but this is as close as we're going to get.

HOPE YOU ENJOY!!!

Well ! I'm an Elvis fan and I like Hank Garland as well but don't try to fool people by making them believe that this is actually Elvis on video cause it's not ,the image is poor quality and they are from a TV series on him ,however yes it is true that the audio is really Elvis from the show in Hawaii cause I have it on CD,Sincerely yoursNormt63

@oddjobjujitsu Bill Black didnt play on "A Fool Such As I". He had quit the band. It was the first session using mostly Nashville A team. That is why Hank Garland moved up to lead gtr position, Scotty to rhythm guitar. For this live version, it's the same lineup in Hawaii used in Nashville.

I loved it! I have that Curt Russell/Elvis flick, and nobody played Elvis better. I mean, Curt even made his movie debut in an Elvis flick (It Happened At The World's Fair), and his real dad played Elvis' dad in the Elvis bio! Great stuff. The Hank Garland bio/movie,'Crazy', from a few years ago, was pretty dang cool, too. We can never have too much Elvis, long live the King!!!

Some things don't add up here.. Bob Moore didn't play a Fender bass, but a double bass. And the guitarist has the wrong guitar, Hank Garland used another one. But okay, it's a nice rendition.
