Wonderful record, and a really fine selection of photos of Elvis in his youthful prime , so well turned-out in his fancy clothes : no miserable scruffy jeans and commonplace T-shirt. A real dude, a king - THE King, of Rock and Roll.

On this day in 1959 {September 13th} while stationed in Germany with the U.S.Army Elvis met Priscilla Beaulieu for the first time at a party in his apartment {introduced by friend Currie Grant}... Back in the U.S.A. his record "A Big Hunk O' Love" was on Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart, it had entered the Top 100 on July 6th and peaked at #1 {for 2 weeks} on August 10th... The record's B-side, "My Wish Came True", also charted, it reached #12... R.I.P. to The King {1935 - 1977}...

This take is even wilder than the released version (a spliced composite, I seem to recall)! And another aspect of The King is made clear: his ability to inspire the musicians around him to achieve ''peak performance''. Hank ''Sugarfoot'' Garland never sounded better- those are some of the rudest guitar lines ever recorded. Nothing Led Zeppelin or Deep Purple ever did was any ''heavier'' than this or ''I Got Stung'' (from the same session). But tragedy was in the offing (the loss of his mother).
