Witness the moment I turned my back on west coast FM radio. It's not on the vid but after the break the crowd is still cheering and Dave says "whew, you guys blew the roof off the dump" Later to become a trademark phrase of his. For 21 years this show was stuck in my head. So nice to relive it today.

Is it just me, or does it sound like Elvis is singing behind the beat throughout?

Dammit, damn - what a glorious band these guys were! I just can't believe it's been nearly 20 years since Brutal Youth?? What the hell?

This is the clip I've been looking for! I remember how Letterman had EC and the Attractions on not long after this performance and was praising Costello's guitar playing before they came on. Funny thing is my boss who didn't know who he was said "I couldn't stand the song but he sure can play the guitar".

The bass player Elvis has now is complete crap. He needs to reconcile with Bruce.

I remember this performance like it was yesterday. I had only been into Elvis for a year...and the The Attractions reunited! Perfect timing. This version is far better quality than my old VHS tape. Thanks for the upload!

I got to see him just a few months ago, and yeah, he's as good as every. FEROCIOUS live performer, second best concert I've ever seen (after Buddy Guy).

About ten years ago I got the chance to see Elvis Costello live and he sounded great. He is a songwriter who has not lost either his voice or his ability to write amazing songs.

After the first minute, Elvis seems to completely forget that this is a TV appearance and goes for the full-on rock'n'roll experience ... brilliant!
