I love elvenking but i agree with some of the comments that their music has gotten quite mainstream they need to go back to look at their roots at what got them to where they are alot of their song structures on this album reminds me on celtic metalcore...

@BloodElvis i actually quite like The Cabal and The Last Hour, but i agree there is too much pop in their music these days for my liking - i still love their music, it is brilliant & beautiful, but they should look back to their earlier work i think, it was better. i hope they see that.

this album is differnt and i think its good as a one off but i hope that elven king go back to writing like they did for the scythe and winter wake which had some truely Phenomenal song on them like never ending nights and death and suffering.

@Moeppstar The Winter Wake, Heathenreel AND The Scythe are their really awesome albums. The Scythe has a different style, yes, but especially songs like "Romance and Wrath" need A LOT of skill to compose them in this complexity. This new album is good, but for Elvenking's skills actually quite weak, because it has a lot of "Pop-Sound" in it (e.g. "The Cabal"... and "The Last Hour" even sounds like Mainstream-shit). And you have to admit that the new music video to "The Cabal" has no plot ;) ^^

@BlackFolkAndPiano Metalcore in what way? Metalcore musicians tend to look "aggressive" they use Metal bands shirts, bald heads, beards, tatoos, etc. they look very "American". Elvenking on the other hand looks elegant like a Power or Folk Metal band. And in the sound i don't detect any Metalcore influence on this album, i can't say the same about The Scythe. They even use growls in this album like they did in The Scythe.
