The worst thing you can do to fans of an artist is cover that artist's song. They HATE that. =P

He put too much of the 'Rock N' Roll' style into it. If you're gonna cover it, please keep it folk.

Don't get me wrong: I like Elton John as much as anyone. (I mean, ya gotta give props to anyone who can do "Daniel" or "Rocket Man.") But he has no business doing Saturday Sun or any other Nick Drake song. They're just on a different planet, emotionally, from his work.

i think this cover makes a great song sound ordinary. nick drake is untouchable. please do check out the original. personally i feel the only way to justice to almost any drake song would be to make it as stripped down as possible. maybe a voice and just a guitar/piano.

nick's version is amazing, but this is far from rubbish. if anyone has the right to cover this song its elton

I like Drakes, but strange as it sounds I like Elton's more. I think Elton is a total twat don't get me wrong but I do like this version

It means there was absolutely no focus on his sexual orientation (or much of his private life, for that matter) or any connotations that go along with it; it was just a guy, or person even, making music.

Rubbish version... Listen to Nick Drake !

Apparently, Elton John sold his copy of this album for a fund raiser and later on really regretted it. (As told in Darker than the Deepest Sea, an excellent biography on Nick Drake) Hopefully for John, he'll know it's on Youtube now

elton john' early albums are sublime and asexual "asexual" - what does that mean when the term is describing music

Nick Drake is one of those rare untouchable artists, where no cover can do the original justice. I'm afraid this is just a dodgy honky-tonk cover of a truly beautiful song. Check out the Nick Drake original instead.

lest we forget.. elton john' early albums are sublime and asexual - my favourite is honky chateux - but they are all brilliant in places... they're good songs on 'yellow brick' and 'captain fantastic' but nothing as good as this (or the early period) he is a seriouly good artist - i suppose that's why he became so rich....
