Its universal and transcends time in many avenues but we can all admit when the music comes from the gut, and it has feeling, got a rhythm beat and a thump, hell lets love the one we're with and get down. Deny that and you aren't listening to what we been listening to...Amen!!!

It seemed effortless for him at this stage to just be magnificent. It was something to see. Glad I was around for it. Thanks Elton.

Unbelievable - what a find, thank you. And great to see the great Dee 'resurrected' as it were.

Bom Dia!.. Boa Tarde!.. Bela tarde!.. Bela noite!.. Fique na Paz!.. E Fé no coração!..

we all have the same thoughts as we listen to this gift to all humanity. I think the same words as expressed by bennchaca below.

IF society still exists in another thousand years, they will STILL be listening to this guy -who is a musical gift from god.

Your cynicism is off base and off putting. Disgusting, actually. This from his finest 12" and this song likely got no airplay. Levon & Tiny Dancer sold this album. Name some truly great singers who sang in their speaking accents. Frampton didn't, Roger Daltrey didn't. Robert Plant. Nope. It is not a affectation purposeful to sell records. That is just stupid. Americans created jazz, rock and blues and then others showed us how to do it better.

My favorite non-popular song by Elton! and also top 10 on the Elton catalogue

Some may say "brilliantly American". others might say pretentious and desperately chasing sales. He could've and probably should've sung in his natural accent. It would've made his stuff a lot more likeable.

I read somewhere that Elton patterned his vocal style after Ray Charles.

I saw Elton play at Rock and Rio and I could see the same spirit of those early 70s, humble, corteous and talented. He even played 'Skyline Pigeon' after learning that this was his first major hit in Brazil. I am very grateful to him.

Thank you, you expressed so eloquently what I could not put into words for years. Elton in the early years was amazing.

I have loved Elton since 1970, respecting the man for all his brilliance and changes.
