A very rare, hard-to-find outtake from Elton John's 1986 album "Leather Jackets". This song appeared as a bonus track on the B-side to the 12" version of the "Slow Rivers" single, only in England. Lyrics by Taupin.

I'm pretty sure Elton also recorded a faster version of this too?

Who says the LEATHER JACKETS period was the worst? I thought of this song this morning and had to hear it again. It's terrific! Some of Bernie's coolest lyrics: "Who rules when fools leave?/I do!" And EJ's honky-tonk after "He's no phantom at all." This is the greatest. Love all the LJ songs!

Indeed, I can't understand why Elton's outtakes are often the best songs of the album they were taken off. Lord of the flies would have made Leather Jackets much better. Same thing for Peachtree road. How's tomorrow is one of the best song recorded during that session and it's not included on the album.

This song, at the side of among others like Timothy, always make me sad. Elton could do an good album, but excluded all the GOOD songs to make one of the worse albums ever: Leather Jackets. This song in particular is fantastic, and could make the LJ album so much better.

Another great work, thank you. Never heard it before. I havenĀ“t been for a long time in England, otherwise I would have found it there.
