She rests in Heaven. I think some Royals are going to have to answer for her death.

I don't know if Lady Di could stomach today's greed and injustice.

I'm an American (F*** yeah). All I'm saying is that Diana is dead, let her rest in peace.

I hadn't seen Asala's comment before commenting on your "clarification", so don't think I just responded in spite of Asala's comment. It was just invisible at the time I responded to your comment.

Yes Asala, the original Candle In the Wind was written in tribute to Marilyn Monroe in 1973, 11 years after Marilyn's death. When Diana died tragically in '97, Elton and Bernie Taupin repurposed the song for Diana calling it "Goodbye England's Rose" version of Candle In The Wind. Elton said in honor of Diana, a personal friend, he would sing the song live once, record the single and then retire the song in both forms forever never again to be heard in concert or recording from him.

Really Captain Herbalife? Thank you for that clarification. Only EVERYONE already knew that, of course! I think you should just refrain from commenting in public. It just doesn't suit you. You obviously have nothing better to do with your life. Loser!

Well OF COURSE Elton's only performed it LIVE ONCE! You know, athull08, a mind is a terrible thing to waste....so please go give yours back. It's defective. Learn a lesson in respecting the opinions of others. Who made you Lord Master of Lady Diana that you think you can just call people names? It would have been just as easy to just pass over my comment and move on by getting a farkin' life!

The funeral started at 9:08AM local time, which was 1:08AM Pacific time same day, September 6th, 1997. I watched the entire funeral and cried with the rest of the world as Elton John performed this song. Elton was whisked off in a limo to a sound studio in London that same afternoon to lay down the tracks for the single. Go to History.com and look up This Day In History and then the date 9/6/97 and read the article about Diana's funeral. Pay special attention to the last paragraph. *SNAP!*

Samuel, must you show your low IQ by flaming a simple post that had really nothing to do with you? Elton John first recorded Candle In The Wind for Marilyn Monroe's Memory, but when Diana was killed, he repurposed that song FOR HER, and thus it was FIRST performed in the Funeral, and then, the moment Elton left the Cathedral, went to the recording studio to work on the single. I watched the funeral LIVE and so I have firsthand knowledge of the order of events. Get a life yourself!

Why don't you get your facts straight. This song was never written for the funeral. John first recorded this song in the studio and later performed it for the funeral. He promised he would only publicly perform it - only once. And AFAIK, he hasn't broken that. Get a life dude.
