Elton singing in French! This was the original version of "Nobody Wins", a song on Elton's 1981 album "The Fox". Written by Jean-Paul Dreau, the title means "I Want Tenderness". Elton had heard Janic Prevost sing it on the radio in France, and wanted to do an English version of it. Gary Osborne wrote the lyrics "Nobody Wins" for Elton to sing in English. You can hear it here:

Elton then recorded this French version to appear on copies of The Fox released in France. It was also a Rocket Records single in France.

This version was also released on "The Fox" in Quebec, although I'm not sure if it was a single there. Osborne's lyrics are not a translation of Jean-Paul Dreau's original, but have an entirely different storyline. Thanks for once again posting an EJ song neve available in the USA.

Love this so much better than the English version, even though I have no idea what he's singing. I know its "I want tenderness" or something like that. Dramatic and powerful. Raw emotion.

It depends on what part of France your talking about when it comes to pronunciation. Besides, I could understand it almost perfectly...... The French version WAS written by a French guy after all....
