On Elton John's 1973 album "Don't Shoot Me I'm Only the Piano Player" (recorded in France in 1972). Elton and lyricist Bernie Taupin had glam rocker Marc Bolan in mind in writing this song. Bolan was a long time friend of Elton's, and they collaborated on a number of occasions. Bolan died in a car accident a few years after this.
Producer Gus Dudgeon wrote the brass arrangement, which was played by French session musicians.
