Philip did I hear correctly all the way from the West Coast... were they stating he was from the U.S. - I would hope not? I know this was early on but by the time this was out Elton was huge. Can you help with the history a little? Thanks.

Actually, this was the intro song, whilst 'Crocodile' was performed last.

@ LikelyNever...I beleive the intro song was "Crockodile Rock ". Love "I Think I'm Gonna Kill Myself "....It's hysterical ...especially with the tap dancing part, you can even here the tap dancing on the studio / album track! He didn't sing the last verse on this television show, through!

Legs Larry Smith. Legend. I defy anyone not to laugh at his performance in this clip.

Am I the only person who hears the similarity between the piano riff here and the theme for The Goodies?. LOL

Oh yeah, now I remember. This is why GAY ANYTHING is acceptable and legally defended. Johnny was gonna kill himself cuz of the madness of being in the closet and the fear of coming out. "Came out" instead of the other.

In this song, Elton captures the essence of bipolar disorder, in which absurdity collides with depression.

I read about the Long John Baldry tapdance in Philip Norman's ELTON biography years ago. Now indeed I have seen it with mine own eyes...(!)
