One of my favourite Elton John songs. After 2:50 everythings rocks up even more. Together with Eric "slow hand" Clapton and Mark Knopfler on guitars - they just go crazy. Imagine standing in front of the band and being part of the crowd at Elton's live concerts in those years. Well i've been fortunate and lucky, and have been to 4 live concerts in Denmark. Each time is was great, and Elton sang even better live... just like Whitney.

Elton says "take it Ray" (Ray Cooper), when he goes from percussion to drums.

4:15 what Elton say before his solo ? "Take Eric" (Clapton) ?

Fantastic version, maybe even the best that I've heard! Not only instrumentally (Elton's fingers are in fantastic shape and the accompanying musicians are brilliant!) but also vocally. It is being played in the original key b minor, while later it was transposed to a minor, two half-tones lower. Elton sings it wonderfully, with all those rough notes, as they should be! Generally he was singing brilliantly at that time, with this hoarseness and energy - it's my favourite period, somehow :)

Can't believe how long ago that was, but man, he can make that piano sound like an entire orchestra! Fantastic! Love the song... Used to fancy Tessa Niles too! Great memories of those supergroups, especially Ray Cooper and Nathan East- my childhood heros!
