I remember at 13 year old, listening to this and love every single song. When it started with Funeral for a friend/loves lies bleeding was epic. We also had fun with a friends piano during Saturday nights alright for fighting when Elton did that piano move just strolling down the strings (if you know what I mean). We used to take turns doing it. Yeah, the whole Elton experience was everything to me. Then he's on TV and I'm blown away. I still have every single album up until Rock of the Westies. After that I kind of gave up. Sad but true.

Do you mind

Yep my favourite Elton song. The chorus is intensely pleasureable ! Music can do that.

Love the key modulation in this song. The chorus is in B major but the verses are in G major. Really ear catching! And it starts with (an instrumental version of) the chorus, a la Strawberry Fields Forever. Stellar songwriting.

when Elton meant something....When I was 10 years old this album came out. Over the road to my house was a squat mostly occupied by Irish hippies. They were kind and happy people, mostly stoned all the time. When I was around 12 years old I was allowed to go over the road to Tom's as Mum liked them. Through the haze of smoke and countless different records being played on the record player was this one... Elton John's 'Goodbye Yellow Brick Road'. What a great introduction to music different to Mum and Dads Beatles and Perry Como songs. This album took me to another world when I was 12 years old and has stayed deep in my Psyche ever since. Elton John once meant something believe it or not....
