A little maudlin at best. Always amazed me how he had such an amazing run up to about Capt. Fantastic and then such a drop off. A testiment to how drugs destroy

An anti-gospel song by way of the Beach Boys? OK....

God did provide an answer and did light up a way Sir Elton John. Pause the video at 3:12 and the answer will appear. God provided the way to eternal life and a way to help us with our problems and sadness in this corrupt world by sending His Son Jesus to die on the cross for us. All you have to do is admit you are a sinner and accept that Jesus died on the cross for your sins. It is a free gift from God ( called Grace) - nothing we can do to earn it. It really is that simple.

I never heard this live in concert! Wish he had sang it, but I don't believe he ever did live!

This was before XTC! And XTC' song was a mochary!

Playing this song for some, might get a reaction similar to throwing holy water on witch, but if you're an E.J. fan, you see this as a heartfelt plea to his Creator to save him from whatever demons were chasing him. I had the album, and the cut next to it was `White Lady' which was a song about how he tried without success to stay away from coke. He's still alive. His prayer must have been answered.

One of the worst songs Elton did in any album till that point- 1980 was part of his decline, but at least he has rebounded in recent years

what a gem, the last chorus reminds me a bit of border song the way its sung, especially with the back up singers on the record
