So glad to hear others enjoy this as much as I have over the years. Seems nobody I've ever met even remotely knows how beautiful this record has always been, how much it satisfies a lonely soul . . .

FYI, "Scarecrow" and "A Dandelion Dies in the Wind" were two of the first songs Elton and Bernie wrote together.

Elton's voice sounded so good during this time period. So clean, so pure.....so cool.

I think that John Lennon was collaborating with Elton during the time he composed "Curtains". The Ravi Shankar-style of cadence and strumming, the authentic Taupin-esqe lyric: which means, read into it whatever you like. And, the classic "hook" Elton created to make it build into an almost Gospel-like anthem. Once, I replayed it at least twenty times.

Un altro grandissimo della tastiera.....magia pura dalle sue dita, con sequenze di note di alto spessore melodico, altrimenti come si fa ad avere una carriera di oltre 40 anni?

"Curtains"I used to know this old scarecrowHe was my song, my joy and sorrowCast alone between the furrowsOf a field no longer sown by anyoneI held a dandelionThat said the time had comeTo leave upon the windNot to returnWhen summer burned the earth againCultivate the freshest flowerThis garden ever grewBeneath these branchesI once wrote such childish words for youBut that's okayThere's treasure children always seek to findAnd just like usYou must have hadA once upon a time

The late Gus Dudgeon was such an overlooked, genius producer. His EJ productions from the 1970's were such a perfect marriage of talents, and keep in mind that Elton took very little time in the studio, constantly touring, leaving Mr. Dudgeon to produce them.
