Came here from Bassman Bob Babbitt's FaceBook fan page. Bob was legendary Funk Brothers bassist who recorded for many artists and producers, including Elton and Thom Bell, after he left Motown.

Call me silly, but thom Bell really tickled out the black in Elton's voice. Fantastic, like dark silk.

@WonderWomanFan4life - Thom Bell was the arranger and producer of many of the the Philly Soul greats, like the Stylistics, Delfonics, and the Spinners. He and Gamble & Huff created the blueprint for disco and the 70's soul sound. Check him on Wikipedia. You'll understand why Elton wanted Thom to produce him
