Saw the movie with a room mate in college my freshman year, Oct. '71. He bought the album on the way home and we played it everyday until the following June. After all these years (and probably a thousand plays) I still haven't tired of the album and am still particularly fond of this tune and "Honey Roll".

this was my first LP vinyl my parents let me have ---- just had 45 singles before that --- loved all of it.

My first album my parents would let me have as a kid. I bought it in the discount bin! Still have it!

Amazing underrated EJ song! I love the very English imagery of working-class life in Sheffield, Birmingham, Manchester, and Newcastle, and I love the chorus, so unforgettable!

"Friends" is one of my all time favorite songs and it is so hard to find. Should be on the early greatest hits albums. It is so good but over too soon. Joyce

I hate singles. They're usually reduced in time in order to be played on radio. If this song were to be played on radio, it'd have to be reduced from 5:59-6:00 to about 1/2 the length.

@ Saturn Track...Agreed....always thought this tune should have been released as a single!

Insipid and eminently forgettable film. Great song, though. He tears it up on "11-17-70" with no guitar backup, too.

What happened to Michelle's Song? I went to look for it and it seems to be taken down from this channel. What's up with that?

I have the Rare Masters cd. Awesome music! Until I got the Rare Masters cds, I've never heard of the Friends soundtrack. Talk about under-appreciated music.

I had this on 8 track! Long gone player and long gone 8 track. Thank goodness for youtube. I've found music I loved so long ago. :)

I still have my album. I held onto most of mine...except for when a friend of my brother...that borrowed some of mine. Crazy thing is...one was a Beatles album. THIS was a great movie. LOVED it.

Great, great live version of this on the "11-17-70" album. Drummer Nigel Olsson and the late Dee Murray on bass made up a superb trio with Elton back in the Troubadour days.

One of my favorite songs that shifts into high gear to finish. The drummer and lead guitar play off each other and positively wail!
