I'm not big on covers in general, but I thought Vedder did to "Trouble" exactly what he did to Lennon's "You've Got to Hide Your Love Away". That is, he took a great song, and though he added no creative twist, he managed to render them lifeless. I guess that it's a good thing that he didn't write them, or we'd never know.

Yeah, Smith's cover is okay, but it wasn't until I heard Eddie Vedder do it that I really felt the intensity of the song. Maybe Vedder will find a genre to dub Cat Steven's Godfather of.
