Absolutely nothing wrong with gotyes song, its just coincidence they share a song title. that aussie lad has done us proud, he is a real musician just like elliot smith was, has dealt with depression and loss and a breakdown just like he did, making all his own music, writing all his own lyrics, learning his craft and gigging his heart out then he gets a hit and everybody hates him for it! He did it all on his own, he's not some pop poser with everything handed to him, so you bastards might just want to think about that or do some bloody research before you start "hating" on him, to use one of your terms.

Well if Elliott sees it that way what choice do I have other then to agree with him, after all the man was a musical saint. When I wrote that I just felt a few people needed a little reminder of what really matters. Nothing against Goyte and his fans, thats all good and fine, but when I see shitkids bashing this song because it wasn't Goyte, I had not choice but to act. Oh yeah and I make music too. What? Gotye is great. This is also great. Why is it always a battle? That's not what music is about. You guys are missing the point entirely. Could you see Elliot saying "My song is SOOOO much better, even though it's a completely different genre and the only similarity is the title"? No. Of course not. You're his fans, don't let him down. Show a little integrity for him. He's not the kind of artist who needs to put other people down to show he's good by comparison. Just enjoy the music.

@mitarmusic On the other hand it looks like thanks to youtube Elliott's work is getting some more exposure thanks to Gotye's microphone feces. This video has been posted since August and only in the last three weeks has it gotten any replies... Correlation may not imply causation, but it winks and nudges you suggestively.
