If ever there was a contender for the first Rock and Roll record as far back as 1946, then this is it. Slack's Boogie Woogie style piano playing is reminiscent of Jerry Lee Lewis, added together with Morse's singing style clearly puts this in the Rock and Roll genre; a definitive precursor that influenced the emergence of Rock and Roll.

I've always been a huge fan of Ella Mae Morse, and, yes, this song deserves to be considered as an early rocker, but it's not very original. Will Bradley, with Freddie at the piano, did it all with Beat Me Daddy, Eight To The Bar in 1940.
