She's awesome, brilliant, soulful, expressive, she's all that! But the greatest living jazz pianist? McCoy Tyner is still alive and takes the laurels whenever he sits at a piano.

People, are you aware that Ms Elias calls herself a disciple of Bill Evans? The main way she deviates from Evans is that he did not sing. But to my knowledge, she does not compose.I agree with her claim to discipleship, and her piano playing and its rich harmonic vocabulary leaves me stunned. This Brazilian woman of Lebanese ancestry may be the greatest living jazz pianist.
