Are you joking? Stereolab annoy the crap out of me. I know on paper they should be in the same genre as Electrelane but I find them intolerable. Electrelane have amazing jams and melodies and just a better vibe.

Electrelane put on seriously the best show I have ever seen at the Troubadour in LA. They are AMAZING.

Who cares if either Stereolab or Electrelane are original? News flash, folks, half the shit that's out nowadays is influenced by something...in which case is influenced by something else. As long as the music's good, then that's all that matters; and personally, both bands are awesome.

Yeah but the fact remains - Stereolab are just so damn good (and original, whether they are influenced by other stuff or not) at what they do and this just isn't good, only in my opinion obviously. And I doubt very much if Electrelane just happened to lift the exact same sound from Faust by mistake...there could have been a million ways to be influenced by it/ reinterpret that stuff and all I can hear in this is Stereolab's very unique and particular sound, poorly copied.

I'm convinced you said it all with the first sentence. I did listen to a few more of their tracks to confirm and there's just nothing new or original that I can hear. When anyone wants to hear that kind of music, I'd advise that they never need to go anywhere else but a Stereolab track to find it. Thanks though.

Why would a Stereolab fan need to check this out? I'm a fan and I thought this was just another cheap rip-off. Hate these bands that think they can copy the genius of others and do it better - its so obnoxious! Video pretentious guff too.
