"Friend Of Ours" (By the band, Elbow) And explanation of the song."Before leaving, get to the bar cus no one 'round here makes you pay. Never very good at goodbyes. So (gentle shoulder charge), love you mate, love you mate. Salford Skyline Blue always you, could fly 'round any corner till you do. Love you, mate. love you mate."The band Elbow don't think enough men tell their friends they love them. Front man Guy Garvey was surprised when he was told the line 'love you mate,' in his song 'Friend Of Ours' ' about a close pal of the band, Bryan Glancy, who died unexpectedly in 2006 ' was an 'unusual' thing for one man to say to another. He explained to Q Magazine: 'Someone said that to write that was unusual. I hadn't realised that. It was so natural. It seemed the only thing to say. You do love your mates though, don't you? 'I tell my friends at the end of every phone call. He used to, Bryan used to. So I know that's the last thing he said to me.' 'Neat Little Rows' singer Guy's band mates - Mark Potter, Craig Potter, Richard Jupp and Pete Turner ' agree with him, with Craig adding: 'Everyone would be heartbroken if they never saw their friends again. It's just that most blokes never speak about that sort of thing.' They should I think.

Perhaps the most perfect bit of music, performed with genuine emotion and feeling. It kills me every time.

This song hits every feeling in me ... When a song is performed so beautifully as this, each instrument's notes are felt and they bring out each emotion a human being can have. Guy Garvey, you're a musical genius, your band plays beyond words, and this orchestra, no words to describe how amazing they are. Thank you!

Probably the most perfect song ever written. Played at my brother's funeral, felt love, not depressed.

An extraordinary song. Heartfelt performance. From the intimate pub memory to the majestic sky sweep of the city back to quiet reflection. My only caveat was the addition of the french horn which was like gilding a perfect lily.

+BRow86Fly round any corner is not that literal, flying around just means someone on the move a lot, or in a hurry.. that's the way i would interpret as a brit!! it makes perfect sense to me!..... if someone told me God himself had written this song i would believe them, immensly beautiful!!
