From the reports, he had problems earlier this year with drugs ... man, I hope that was wrong. He has an amazing voice and I would love for him to come back but not at the cost of his life. I pray that by the grace of God he can remain clean. Sometimes entertainers pay too high a price for fame ... my prayer is for him .. as a man, as a father, as a brother, and a son ... as a person to find peace in his life. Your story - well your wife's- is inspiring. Unfortunately El isn't off the drugs; the thing with these stars is whenever they are launching a comeback they are "obliged" to claim they have overcome their drug problems as it often makes for a good story. Whitney sold that story to the world when she relaunched in 2009 even as she hit the pipe behind the scenes HARD- and we all saw how that ended. Remarkably El despite his problems has kept his voice, his looks and his humour.

El DeBarge is an amazing singer and entertainer and this album could have been epic except for the lack of musicianship or 'players' that have been substituted by the producer's stingy stubborness to allow REAL musicians to play all the parts. It grooves but there is no heart in drum tracks, percussion tracks, digital linear timing as opposed to "feel" and it sounds too mathematical. Pure session musicians OVER a producer's Pro Tools band = Emotional Impact! Peace!
