+jorgekluney HE WAS THAT WAY BECAUSE OF BEING LOCKED UP, NOT LOCKED UP BECAUSE OF LONG HAIR AND RIPPED JEANS. I KNOW, THIS SONG MAY AS WELL HAVE BEEN WRITTEN ABOUT ME.

Straight in St Pete FL I wasn’t rebellious,or on drugs, never had a drink I hit a joint twice. I hid a roach clip for my brother & it was found in my room, so that was all she needed to believe I was on drugs. My brother never spoke up & I was locked up in hell. No one listened to me or believed me. Trust, abandonment, anger, it changed me forever. After 18 mths I got out by leaving the state with my father. My relationship with her was never the same. I'm 50 now & still affected by it.

So Momma, you better think twice about locking your kid up and throwing away the key...... we ended up paying the price.

Let me guess- a residential treatment center for troubled and disturbed youth? I still have nightmares about mine- Homestead in Ellsworth, Maine. Behaviour modification is so eff-ed up to inflict on 14, 15 years. And believe this, Sandy, when he sings about his mom fixing his clouded broken mind, he was talking IN FULL BEHAVIOUR MODIFICATION MODE! The key words in this whole song are I can't FORGIVE you for this solitude. I'm with you, sister.

Except my mind wasn't clouded, I was just a 14 teen year old little kid who will forever be scared by that time in my life. From the minute I first heard this song, I felt like it was written about me. It gets me every time I hear it.

You enjoyed the convenience of my solitude.... and for that, I'll forgive, but no, I will NEVER forget.

Edwin McCain is one of the most talented musicians that never really got the credit he deserved. Amazing singer/songwriter. I had never heard this song before, and my husband had me listen to it, now it's my favorite song. Raw, pure talent! <3
