I think they sampled some of the instrumentation from 'The Ghost Song' by The Doors for this (which is one of the reasons why it's my favourite song on Up From Below). It's a subtle tribute to The Doors, but a tribute nonetheless. It just demonstrates Alex's chops as someone with a good ear for the history of pop music.
