I love the entire trilogy but by far the best LOTR was the first chapter. When 'In Dreams comes on at the ending credit, you can't help but reflect on all their struggles and your own struggles in life. Such an amazing masterpiece of marrying the books, director and music together. I don't think there's anything quite like LOTR.

1. because the eagles don't care for the business of men, elves etc. they only helped gandalf (and by extension, everyone else) because the eagle lord owes gandalf favors for being saved by poisoned arrows. 2. all of the missions (frodo to mordor, thorin to erebor) required secrecy for higher chances of success, moreso for frodo's. bring in the elves for the whole mission and secrecy goes kapoof.

I liked it, but I feel it was lacking plot. But if you really think about it, all they did was walk around. Why didnt they just take the eagles. I really hope we see more of Radagast. What a great comic relief character.

Yeah, but most people these days probably don't want to sit in theaters for 4 hours (many have become lazy). I personally also enjoy long movies, but I really dont care if it is 3 movies or just two long ones. Also even though it is a thin book, the movie has to take a long time explaining things, showing actions, and adding info from Tolkiens notes. The first was really good, and the next few are probably just as good, if not better.

The Hobbit is three movies that has plot enough for two.Although I appreciated and enjoyed the hobbit, when you take away the hype and suspense formed by 10 years of hopeful waiting, it's only one thin book. I wish they kept it at two movies, but possible made them longer. I love long movies.
