The real genre of this band is debatable, even though most people tend to label them as "progressive death metal", "melodic death metal" or simply "death metal". These tags are appropriate for most of the songs in their discography, although there are some exceptions. In fact, there is a Manowar cover (Blood of my Enemies) in this album, which is a heavy metal song, a gothic rock song (Sacrificed) which is complete Sisters of Mercy worship, a song with many hardcore punk elements (Feedin' the Charlatan) and a neoclassical instrumental song (A Serenade for the Dead). To sum it up, this album is full of experimentations and variety, which isn't a bad thing in this case.

Dan Swanö - Vocals / Piano

Andreas Axelsson - Main guitars / Bass

Sami Nerberg - Secondary guitars

Benny Larsson - Drums / Percussion

Bassist Anders Lindberg could not record the album due to mandatory military

service.

Lyrics:

There's an evil wind blowing through my soul,

a firestorm that makes the mountains roll.

I can feel his might from day to night.

The fires of hell I can see them burning bright.

The time has come to take me away.

Way down deep to where the demons stay.

This day I see is my last up here.

I have no guilt and I have no fear.

I am off the earth. I am off the border.

I am never to return.

Victimized, I am his chosen

In hell I shall burn.

I am sacrificed.

Deeper down down deeper down down deeper down.

Deeper down.

I seek for cold in this world of heat,

no longer a man in this world I am meat.

I have to pay for all human sins,

in this world where only evil wins.

Where evil wins.

I am off the earth. I am off the border.

I am never to return.

Victimized, I am his chosen.

In hell I chall burn.

I am sacrificed.

Deeper down down deeper down down deeper down.

Deeper down.

The thunder strikes much louder here...

The rain is boiling tears.

You can never guess what hell is like.

Until you're lying in his hearse!

I am sacrificed.

Deeper down down deeper down down deeper down.

Deeper down.

I don't like this song, as I don't like the Manowar cover. In my opinion they should have put these 2 songs at the end on the album, not in the middle, to maintain the album integrity and don't create this "break"...

I think Swano did this because he wanted to do it with Nightingale before he had the idea and eventually did it in the full record of Nightingales first release.

It's not a cover of anyone, it's original. It's just that this is a random kickass darkwave song in the middle of a progressive death metal album. Pretty much pure Sisters of Mercy worship, but otherwise original.

its simple there a hybrid style, they probably experimented with other sounds to make their music better

Love this band, this album, and their fearless experimentation. However, this song is one that never worked for me...at all.

In the beginning it seems something like 80's pop-dark... omfg

That's why the description I put says "complete Sisters of Mercy worship". I think that's an appropriate description given that it resembles the style of music of bands like SOM.

Can't get enough of this song. :D Not quite metal so much as gothic rock, but who cares? It's Dan Swanö.

This is not a cover of Systers Of Mercy, I have all the albums of SOM and for sure this is not a cover. I think this is more a tribute of this type of dark wave bands. Anyway the song kick ass and EOS is in my opinion is one of the finest metal bands you can find.
