The Reinhardt/Grappelli version is much better. It flows more smoothly and naturally. It has the decided advantage of a Django solo. You can tell the Hot Club Quintette had played together much more. I like South as much or more than Grappelli, this is not a knock on him.

No, the Django/Grappelli version is not better - this is the finer and more inventive. Eddie is absolutely the best fiddle jazz player of all time.
