THis year will be, sadly, the 21st anniversary of my own dear Papa's death, and like other people who have commented on this beautiful song, this piece also describes my own dear, loving, gentle, funny, caring, much-loved and much-missed father, Frank, perfectly. We were a very close father and son and we did so many things together over so many years - learning French together, learning piano, singing in a church choir, chatting about books and writing, talking about local government law, as we were both in that profession. And of course, when I was a little boy, he did all the things that are mentioned in this song, like taking me on his knee, consoling me, making me laugh ... Love you, Dad. Always in my heart. xxx
