I kind of disagree with some of the comments below, I don't think he's just jetlagged and tired. I believe this song is, in fact, very personal and touchy, so every time he performs it he's got a lump in his throat because, let's be honest, this song is about his grandfather's death. Thats's why I think he's also very emotional and not just jetlagged.

So sad that he's ill and probably really tired, give him a rest! It wasn't that bad really considering. Most celebs aren't amazing live but I always think Ed is one of those singers who can sing live. He's actually not that bad when he gets to the ending part.
