When you see Ed play you appreciate how cleverly he uses the pedals to build the sound and play the violin with them. It must have taken years of practice but lets us enjoy this for free. Many thanks Ed...

Does anyone know the what the first song is, the one during the first minute or so. I love it. The rest is great too of course. Everything Ed does is brilliant.

It's a violin. Acoustic violins traditionally have 4 strings (some early antecedents had fewer), but electric violins can have more. I know a violinist called Anna Phoebe and she has a 6 string custom electric violin, which I imagine is very tricky to play (although she makes it look effortless).

I was on a day trip to chester about 5 weegs ago. When I first heard the sound i wondered what it was (he was playing with distortion). It sounded a bit like a metal guitar, but that wasn't it. Amazing what he gets out of this instrument! that's a true artist... btw: does anyone know if this is really a violin? i'm wondering because it has 5 strings..
