It's just the song with the title... not an AMV...

Lyrics:

Mein lieber Freund.

in mein Schloss in Transsylvanien einladen,

Vlad Dracul bittet zum Fest, zum Fest des Blutes;

Dein Blut an meinen Lippen,

Vlad Dracul bittet zum Fest, zum Fest des Blutes;

(Marcelo Ramos : ecologista amador).

This song is like a drug. Cannot have enough of it and need, until I own the album. I wish that Itunes has the album. Itunes is quicker, but as the same has a hard copy.

Happy birthday to you and I hope you had an enjoyable, yet hectic, couple of days. I do not know when you were last here, but your description of the politicians and the system can also explain how a lot of the people I know feel about our system here, unfortunately. The corruption is awful and the politicians are only there for themselves and the wealthy people or, more likely, corporations who put them there. They ALL seem to be in somebody's pocket so to speak.

Well, I was going to ask you about Romania, your view of the country, etc.., but I think you pretty much summed it up when you said the "only advantage" was the language. I do not know how long you lived there but are there no other good things to say about it? How does it compare to other places you have traveled?

Their shows are fantastic... so very intense in every single way! But yes, I do see why some people would consider their lyrics (and their behaviour on stage)offensive.Your assumption is correct I do speak 3 languages fluently and German at an intermediate level, and thanks to my native language I can understand Italian(I could understand 90% of an Italian movie) and some French and Portuguese. I would say this is the only advantage of being born in Romania, you get a head start in languages...

My turn to make an assumption:) You speak at least four languages, Romanian, English (better than most Americans btw), German, and..Spanish?

I would say that is an accurate description, so not ALL of your assumptions are wrong :) It is ironic you mention a concert of theirs, because I had an opportunity to see them last year in Cleveland but my friend and fellow Rammstein fan could not attend- so I did not attend, and I regret it DEEPLY. They are not real popular over here probably because they do not use English (we Americans don't tolerate other languages well) and their lyrics, once known, are offensive to some.

Hahaha, yes, it is a bit hypocritical indeed. I can relate to that though, it's probably because we are such hopeless romantics that we developed some sort of allergic reaction to 'reality' and discontent follows us like a faithful shadow. I know I shouldn't include you in this generalization, I should know better by now that all my assumptions in relation to you prove to be wrong. Rammstein have always been an endless source of inspiration to me. Have you ever been to a concert of theirs?

Ich lernte Deutsch, weil ich Rammstein liebe! Mach dir keine Sorgen, mein Deutsch ist nicht gut genug, um ein philosophiches Gaesprech zu fuehren.(ae, and ue instead of umlaut :>).

Are you a Rammstein fan? I see you quoted them related to one your beautiful paintings. Ich liebe Rammstein! I am a huge fan of theirs.

The same may be true in my case- reality may be quite different. I do have a tendency to romanticize about simpler times (not necessarily better I know). I cannot say I like the overall effect technology seems to be having on the world, so how ironic (and probably hypocritical on my part) that I chat with you instantly thousands of miles away, someone I never would have had contact with otherwise :)

It doesn't sound odd at all: several years ago I moved to Spain for exactly the same reason, too bad the Spain in my head was very different from the present-day Spain I had to live in. In any event, all experiences teach us something both about ourselves and about the world. In the US I was based in Binghamton, NY, but I also visited NYC, Buffalo, the Niagara Falls etc.

Maybe most importantly though is the feeling I get that, for some reason, I belong there, which I am aware sounds odd considering I've never been there. I cannot really explain it. Anyway, I long to be in places which have a rich history. I live in Ohio and travel to the east coast here as often as possible for that reason, but also the population is much more diverse and not such a (as you said it well) "small-island-mentality":) May I ask which part of the U.S. you visited?
