It looks like the great studio drummer James Gadson in the back row second from left.I know he played with Dyke and the blazers. I don't know if he did all their tracks. He's a great drummer! He was also with the 103rd street band, Bill Whithers, the Spinners and many others. What a groove!!

This is an incredible slice of FUNK! The consistency of Arlester Christian and Dyke & The Blazers is phenomenal... Everything song they released is a funkin gem! He got killed in the early 70's when funk was about to become HUGE! I wish he'd been around to keep James Brown company with the Funk. Imagine Arlester and James Brown doing a heavy funk duet live on stage in the early 70's... Now that would of been really something special ,)

Correct - and the 103rd st rhythm band DID play on more than a few Studio dates with Dyke.

You're quite right sir (and have a well-deserved Spotters Badge) but frankly I can't be arsed to sort it out.

One of the few true funk artists noted to be on par with James Brown. Straight funk from the soul to record to the ear to your ass and to the dance floor. Hard to find something more greasy outside of a can of Crisco.

we get 3rd rate pop acts because the industry can recreate predictable cheesy pop with ease, real talent n originality dont get a look in,cos they own the radio stations,so unless bands become fake n play the fame game they dont get on radio, radio works on a pay 2 play basis, they earn money thru sales 2 the masses who lap up the predictable,n dont even know what the natural high or originality means, its sad but if u make music only small labels let u do what u want n thats the price many pay

I'm only 18, and I love this music. Stumbled here by accident, and I'm glad I found it. Love the classics. lol I still have no idea how we got from here, to what's out in the mainstream today. Makes no sense man, no sense.

Did they ever make a record that you listen to and go 'Meh. I mean, it's okay.'? Funk dripping from every note.
