RIP Dusty, Lesley Gore, Jackie Trent, Lynsey de Paul, Amy Winehouse ... so many fine singers crossed the Rainbow Bridge ... lucky for us, their music stays here

LOL! I sang this one to an ex-boyfriend back in 1965! He got the message after I stopped waiting for him to pick me up after class. He's....I have no idea where. The song was first recorded by Lesly Gore in 1963. I was in the ninth grade. Great memories!

An incredible artist, one of Britain's best ever female vocalists, just as perfect singing live as when recorded

Can't believe Lesley Gore died just a few days ago. I never heard about it until now. Anyway, this song is fantastic and I absolutely love Dusty's version too.

There is nothing that Dusty couldn't sing well. She was so soulful. Yet with her less powerful voice I feel this song belonged to Lesley Gore mostly because she came across as more likely the person who would have had to sing it. Dusty would have told whomever it was trying to control to go sit on a nail and rotate. Lesley, not so much. So I love Dusty and Lesley but give this song to the latter. Both of you greats RIP and know you are missed and forever loved.

A great talent so very sadly missed. This has to be the best version..

Lesley's is the best but Dusty's is so so good that it's #2 on my list and Jett's the rocking part i like but the slower parts not so much...

Yes, and I'm not trying to split hairs, but LESLEY GORE sang this first. Lesley was one of the very first blue-eyed girl soul singers out there in the late 50's/early 60's and made that sound - that Dusty and many others copied since - hers first... FACT!

I think Joan Jett's version is the most underrated. She's my #2 fave on this one. Sorry Dusty :)

Dustys voice suits this song so perfectly. Plus being lesbian you know she sung it with an extra zest just like Lesley gore. Dusty has the better voice but Lesley created the song so Ill call it a draw.

I thought I knew all of Dusty's songs. I was unaware that she did this. And now to add - Leslie Gore brought me here... Both great singers. RIP for both.
