Betty Everett's version is also better (IMO). It was written by Nick Ashford, Valerie Simpson, and Joshie Armstead (one of the greatest Soul music writing teams).

No other white chick belts like the Dusty. God gave her talent and she shared itand we enjoy it. It's all good.

With all due respect, I prefer Tina Britt's original version.

Who was the original writer of this? Britt's version far surpasses this tbh.

Wow I had no idea Dusty did this one. I've only heard Tina Britt's version. This song is also "Baby Take Me" by Chuck Jackson and Maxine Brown (also covered by the Steampacket) but with different lyrics.

@gpwerner I beg to differ. Don't get me wrong, I like Dusty Springfield but what you're claiming is strictly moot.

Hi there...actually, Tina Britt did a very catchy version of this song...featured in the mid/late 80s movie called The In Crowd.

Oh, thank you! This song is on the soundtrack of a movie from 1987 called "The In Crowd", about teens on a dance show in 1965 Philadelphia. It predated Hairspray by a year. Anyway, it hasn't shown in years and I never knew who sang it first. Thanks!

Who did the original version of this song? It's great!

This song sounds a bit like "Heat Wave". I had not seen this one before. Must have missed it from her 60s TV seies. Dusty always looks and sounds good.

Nobody does it better than Dusty. Nobody.

The series of songs she sang live on this particular show in 1966 are unrivalled by any female artist before or since
