+DaftSwank - the original (being the 1979) was not done by Duffy but by Andy Wickett, who originally sang - and wrote the song - for the band during one of the group's variable line-ups before the stable five with Le Bon.According to a reliable source, prior to his leaving, Wickett wrote off the royalties to the band for a tiny sum of money... The song as we know it, that sparks up the amazing debut album is became huge and Wickett may have possibly regretted his decision. In all, this is a rather dull studio doodle, nowhere near the energy of the final one but you can tell where it was heading.

I am well aware of that. I meant the original singer of this song, which as you pointed out was not around yet when Duffy was in the band. I was correcting someone else who had that wrong.

Actually, Stephen Duffy was the original singer for Duran. :) Duffy was replaced by Andy Wickett when he left DD to front Wickett's former band T.V. Eye. 'Girls On Film' wasn't around when Duffy was front-man. It was written and recorded as a demo during Andy Wickett's short tenure with the band. Pretty sure that's the demo torontotubear was referring to.

I'm DD fan since 1983-84, but when I heared this I can only wonder whats happenied with this band ? Why they sell there souls for stupid teenage-band fame. They could be real and respected rock band and not this nonsense today.
